About me
Teaching has always been my lifelong passion, driving me to pursue a career in education right after completing my A levels by undertaking the MOE teaching award. I am proud to have graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor’s degree in Science, majoring in Chemistry with honours. Additionally, I obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education.
With a solid foundation in education and subject expertise, I dedicated five enriching years to teaching at the secondary level. Seeking new challenges and opportunities to expand my horizons, I decided to embark on the cross deployment scheme, where I spent three years teaching Science and Mathematics at a primary school. This experience not only allowed me to work closely with younger children but also provided me with the invaluable opportunity to participate in PSLE Science marking. Through these meaningful experiences, I developed and refined my teaching practices, ensuring that I could effectively engage and nurture students at all levels.
Following my time in primary education, I returned to the secondary level, bringing with me the insights and strategies gained from my primary teaching experience. During this two-year period, I continued to excel as an educator, fostering a supportive learning environment for my students and encouraging their academic growth.
Driven by my passion for educational innovation, I joined The Brainery, an organization dedicated to exploring new approaches to teaching and learning. This exciting venture allows me to contribute my expertise and collaborate with like-minded professionals to create transformative educational experiences beyond the traditional classroom.
I believe in the potential of every student to learn, and it’s our collaborative effort as teachers and students to discover the most effective methods for their learning. This partnership may extend to involve parents and other stakeholders, enhancing the educational experience.
Understanding each student on an individual level is crucial as it enables me to tailor my teaching to their unique learning styles.
Furthermore, I strongly advocate the value of hard work. While the desired results may not come instantly, I believe in patience and trusting the process to achieve the desired outcomes.
